The Wait

We are –

All like sunflowers,

Colourful on the outside,

Dark inside, twirling in the wind,

On the top of the tower.

But these days I see,

These flowers in cages,

Reaching out for sunlight,

I see them withering,

I see them brooding,

They are fighting and so are we,

All competing for the brink of life they get,

But then when summer finally arrives,

I see then blooming,

I see them flailing,

We are all like sunflowers you see,

Waiting for our summer to finally come.
