When I thought of the peace,
Perfect peace
It is perfect in quality
On its arrival conflict and combat shall cease
A peace which lives not now in joy’s excesses,
Nor in the happy life of love secure,
But in the unerring strength the heart possesses,
Of conflicts won, while learning to endure.
When I thought of the peace
Perfect peace
Then we’d have tranquillity,
through the storms of life
There is the peace that cometh after sorrow,
Of hope surrendered, not of hope fulfilled;
A peace that looketh not upon to-morrow,
But calmly on a tempest that is stilled.
When I thought of the peace
Perfect peace
Then we’d have the faith,
to trust God in all things
When I thought of the peace
Perfect peace
we’d soar above the turbulence
riding out the winds of strife.
A peace-there is, in sacrifice secluded,
A life subdued, from will and passion free
