Dear Water, a poem by Sashini Manikandan, 9H

A many-armed omnipotent goddess
Takes an avatar to suit her people
She doesn’t think high of herself, she’s too modest
That doesn’t mean we consider her feeble

In the cool mountains of the west,
She is invisible
In the arid center of the Earth
She is barely seizable

In the abundant areas of the East,
She is quite active
Towards the artic areas of the North
She is quite passive

Like the supreme almighty
She is present in every human atom
She goes in and comes out
In a way we can hardly fathom

Yes, she’s our beloved mother
The beginning of all beginnings
The protector of all beings
Our WATER.
