Mother, A Poem by Sashini Manikandan, 9H

When I stepped into this world,
Selfishness and Greed infected me
But she Protected me from all dangers hurled
She told me, “You’ll rise as the greatest, you’ll see.”

And with all her tenderness
Did she take care of me
And with all simpleness
And morals, I rose to be the best I could be

Her magic did work on me then
That of irreplaceable love
Saved me from narrow- and evil-minded men
Protected my innocence similar to that of a dove

Helped me rise to my full potential
Supported me with full hope and faith
Her love and blessings are essential
She’s my mother, my whole faith
